State of the Blog: Email List, New Worlds, and Stats

Well, it’s been about a month since I’ve started this blog, and so far it’s been pretty fun. Not only that, but it’s completely reshaped the landscape of the internet. For those of you who are interested in just how pivotal this blog has become, there’s a guest video from my friend Kaiser Bergin at the end of this post that really gets into the full impact of the stories we’ve been running here. Kaiser Bergin runs a successful twitch stream and is in no way related to me. And he’s definitely not me.

That being said, I’ve got some other information to share in plain old text fashion. And memes.

Email List

If you’re anything like me, then there’s one thing you want more of in your inbox, and that’s more emails. If you sign up for my email list, you are signing up for the best of spam. A weekly story round up where you’ll get a quick blurb of the stories published so you can enjoy them at you leisure. Hopefully multiple times, on different browsers. I need to artificially boost my viewer count. Thanks in advance.

Also, you’ll get State of the Blog emails for when there are updates to the blog or my story writing – you know, like this one.

If you ever feel like you’re getting too many emails, you can simply unsubscribe. I assume. Personally, I’ve never had the motivation to click an unsubscribe link, so I don’t know how they work. I mean, who has time for that when there are cat videos on YouTube? Speaking of cat videos, my daughter loves this one: Nope, I can’t find it and the ones I found all have cursing in them. But I mean, come on. Just type in cats in YouTube. It can’t be that hard.

New Worlds

MagPunk has been the focus of this past month with stories from the Blue Mage saga as well as a short from the Magic Typewriter.

Blue Mage follows the story of Office Kelly, a Chicago beat cop in a world where magic has burst into existence, but no one knows how it works. We watched as Mr. Kelly tapped into his magic ability only to blow out his knee caps while chasing down a perp. He’s managed to recover and we’re following his first day back on the force. There’s been pranks, a street performance, beach policing, a bar fight, and the beginnings of a truly explosive situation. As I write more, I’m going to explore the important questions about Officer Kelly. Like what is his first name? That’s… pretty much it. Oh, and like that whole perp exploding out of the cop car thing. And maybe how to use magic without blowing his knee caps out. But the first name thing is definitely going to be my main focus.

We also got a fun short story about a guy with a magic typewriter. It’s a quick read, disconnected from the main arc, and just a fun view into the mystic world of MagPunk.

Finally, we got the Initial Trial of AI Punk. Definitely more to come – we’ll update the program’s code and watch it handle analyzing many more scenarios. It’s going to be fun.
